Peru Digital Nomad Visa 2026

Peru is the clearest cautionary tale in the nomad-visa world: a program that exists in legislation and nowhere else. In November 2023, Decreto Legislativo 1582 amended the foreigners' law to create a residence visa for digital nomads and remote workers — real law, published in the official gazette, widely reported. Then nothing happened. For the visa to function, Peru's immigration authority must publish it in the TUPA, the administrative regulations that define every procedure, document, fee and criterion. The TUPA of August 2024 omitted it. The updated TUPA of September 2025 omitted it again. As of our verification date, there is no application form, no published income threshold, no fee schedule — the visa cannot be applied for, in Peru or abroad. We list it here so you don't plan around blog posts describing it as available. What does work in Peru today is the ordinary tourist entry (up to 183 days per year for many nationalities) and Lima's genuinely strong nomad infrastructure — fast internet, coworking hubs in Miraflores and Barranco, and some of the world's best food at developing-world prices. Watch the Migraciones TUPA; if the procedure ever appears there, Peru instantly becomes one of South America's most interesting nomad bases.

Sources & verification

Not legal advice. Visa rules change frequently and consulates interpret them differently. Always verify current requirements with the official consulate or immigration authority before applying.
